I have been a little restless lately, like it’s time for something new and fun. I have a few ideas, but they basically require someone else to do something to make them happen, or at least a group of friends willing to participate. [Yes, my five friends and my aunt that read this. Take note. Pick something - let's do it!]
Not because I am lazy and can’t do things on my own, but as part of this adventure I am seeking some surprise and something new. Something I don’t have to plan. Something I don’t have to do alone.
I have had a year full of bad surprises and would love the next year to be full of fun surprises.
Here are some of my ideas:
This is a cooking show where the chefs are given a basket full of ingredients and have to create a meal with them. Along the same lines, I would like someone to come over with a bag of groceries and I have to create something for them with the items. I think this would be really fun because I love to cook and I love to try new things, but it’s hard when creating meals for yourself. You always, or I always, lean towards my favorite flavors and foods. This would really stretch me to try something new.
2. THE AMAZING RACE
I would love to do a treasure hunt, besides my Geocaching. I think there are games that people do like this where there are teams of people and you get clues and have to find the prizes. It would be a thinking, competitive game with friends.
3. ROAD TRIP!
I would love for someone to stop by, tell me to pack a bag, and take me on an adventure where I have no idea where we are going. Maybe there are clues along the way and I have to guess our destination. (Of course, plans have to be made for the dog’s care while I am away!)
4. GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN
I want to have an old school sleepover. We stay up all night talking, drinking (now that we can!), doing each others’ hair, makeup, singing, dancing… Give each other mani/pedis…
I would love to go camping! And we would have adventures like going kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, find food and cook it… Tell scary stories over a campfire, ride bikes, hike… Gaze at the stars… I used to go camping a lot when I was in college and high school. I haven’t been in so long and I miss it!
I would love for all my girlfriends to come to yoga with me one day, all on the same day! I want them to see what I love about it and how much they will love it, too. They will probably curse my name over and over again during class – but in the end, it will be worth it. Hobbies and things you love should be shared!
I would love to have a pottery party or painting party at a studio where we get to create fun, artistic things together.
8. DANCING WITH THE STARS
I would really love to take dance classes again. I have looked into it, but there are not a lot of classes for ballet, jazz, tap, etc. for women my age. There’s Zumba, but I am surprisingly uncoordinated for it. Blows my mind!
I think it would be fun for a group of us to take a salsa dancing, belly dancing or pole dancing lesson.
I used to do round robin parties a lot when I travelled. If there were a large group of us together on an install we would have people pair up and each hotel room would have a drink and a snack. We would have a schedule where we would move from room to room. It was a lot lot of fun!
We all live too far away to do something like a round robin party, but a potluck would be fun! Everyone brings a dish and a drink. We did do a cookie exchange last winter and that was a lot of fun!
10. PUT ME IN COACH
I would love to go to the batting cages or play a fun game of softball, or kickball like the kids outside where playing last night. I would go play with them, but they might think that’s kind of creepy – or at least their parents would!
I would go by myself, but the nearest batting cages I know of are an hour away. Too bad I don’t like golf (though I do have a set of clubs out in the garage) because I live in Golf-Course-Land and there are tons of places to go hit golf balls.
11. DRIVE ON IN
Is there a drive in around here? It sure would be fun to go!
12. ROLLER DERBY
Great Skate, anyone?
13. SPA DAY
I would love to gather all the girls and head to the spa for a day of pampering!
14. YOGA RETREAT
I would love to go to one of those retreats where they have all your healthy meals planned and a schedule of yoga all day and posture clinics. Preferably in Sedona, Arizona.
15. SEA WHEEZE
The Lululemon Sea Wheeze half-marathon was this past weekend. I would love for us all to go, and even if you aren’t going to run, at least be there to cheer me on and take the yoga classes! I don’t know if I can do it next year, as I am not sure that is enough recovery time after surgery, but maybe the next year!
16. THE BIG EASY
I am headed to New Orleans early next year – meet me there! You can stay with me! It’s some place I have never really spent any time at, so I am super excited.
JUST SURPRISE ME! I am looking for some new, fun, good surprising adventures!
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR IDEAS FOR NEW, FUN ADVENTURES FOR ME TO TRY?
